Alexander "Sasha" Sorkin, PhD, Professor and Chair of Cell Biology and Physiology and Professor of Computational and Systems Biology, School of Medicine, delivered the Provost's Inaugural Lecture on "Regulation of Receptors and Transporters: Endocytosis Meets Function," on Tuesday, May 8, in Lecture Room 6 of Scaife Hall.
The Provost's Inaugural Lecture series invites distinguished University of Pittsburgh faculty members to give a lecture marking their appointments to endowed chairs. Dr. Sorkin holds the Richard Beatty Mellon Chair in Physiology. He is noted for his work with epithelial growth factor (EGF) receptor and for elucidating mechanisms of membrane trafficking and cell signaling in cancer.
